Overview

A full CGI visualization of a compact Roland MIDI keyboard. I modeled it in Blender, set it on a grass mound full of pink tulips and rendered a short floating loop, key visuals, color variants and a look inside the working file.

The challenge

The scene had to balance a hard-surface product with an organic set. Keys, pads and backlit screens needed crisp edges and real depth, while the grass, flowers and leaves around them stayed soft enough not to compete.

Approach

  1. I built the keyboard as a hard-surface model: a navy body with a fine textured finish, warm wood-toned end cheeks, the key bed, four numbered pads with a second row below, a bank of small buttons and two screens.
  2. The screens use image textures fed into emission, so the readouts glow like backlit LCDs and light the bezel around them.
  3. For the set I covered a rounded mound in grass and pink tulips, added monstera leaves at the edges and let light fall through vertical slats and reeded glass for soft, striped shadows.
  4. I rendered the same shot with black keys, blue keys and red keys on an orange backdrop, then a clay pass of the whole scene.

Loop

A keyboard floating over the flowers

Key visuals

Hard surface in a soft garden

Reeded glass, slatted light and close crops on the pads and screens.

Variations

Black, blue and red keys

Process

Clay pass and the working file

The untextured scene, then the Blender file with the screen material open.

Outcome

A floating loop, six widescreen key visuals, three color variants, a clay render and two screenshots from the Blender file.
