Overview
Photoreal CGI of a Dearjose leather shoulder bag, made through 1509cgistudio. I modeled the bag in Blender and rendered it in four leather colorways, each in its own set, with close-ups that sit right on the stitching and grain.
The challenge
Leather in CG can easily read as plastic. The bag needed visible grain, soft rolls at the seams and believable topstitching, and those details had to hold up across four colors and tight crops.
Approach
- I modeled the bag around its rounded baguette body: piped edges, a side zip, two long shoulder straps that drop into round tab anchors, and a small leather flower charm knotted to one strap.
- The leather carries a fine pebbled grain with a soft sheen, and contrast thread runs along every seam. The Dearjose mark sits on the front panel in a pale metallic finish.
- Each colorway got its own backdrop: deep green with monstera leaves, warm sand for the camel bag, saturated pink, and pale sage on a glossy black plinth under rippling light. A pale stone holds the bag in most frames.
- I also rendered the full scene in clay, so the bag, stone and plant forms read on their own without materials.
