Overview

A season of motion work for Lagos Liga, a football league in Lagos. I built a set of 3D assets for the league, a match ball, the cup, a boot, ribbons carrying the club names, and used them in a season film cut together with matchday footage.

The challenge

League content has to feel big on a grassroots budget. The 3D had to look like a top-flight broadcast package and still sit naturally next to real footage from the pitch and the stands, in the league's own blue, yellow and green.

Approach

  1. I started with the objects: the match ball with Lagos Liga panel graphics, a silver cup with a gold crown rim, and a football boot textured in the league's blue. They give every piece a recognizable hero.
  2. Around them I built simulations: ribbons printed with club names like Sporting FC, Jarus FC, Premos FC and Krypton FC wrapping the ball, cloth sheets in league colors, a stand of stadium seats, the ball caught in a net, a particle burst off the boot, and a grassy hill where seats fly in beside city landmarks.
  3. In After Effects I cut the 3D against matchday footage, framing the real game inside glowing cards and closing on the league's line, "We. All. Play."

Simulations

Ribbons, cloth and stadium seats

Each scene on its own: the ball in the net, a burst off the boot, club ribbons around the ball and the cup, cloth in league colors and a stand of seats.

AI tests, 2026

The same ball, made with AI video

Short explorations made with AI video tools, using the league ball as the hero.

Outcome

A season film plus a reusable kit of 3D assets and loops for the league's channels. In 2026 I also tested AI video with the same ball.
