Overview
Jessie OS is a short 3D motion piece built around the brand's J icon. I designed the sets, modeled and animated them in Blender, and rendered the film in Cycles.
The challenge
An operating system has no physical product to film. The piece had to give the brand a body: a material world where the icon could land and connect to things, all inside one tight color range.
Approach
- I kept the palette to one family of greens, from mint to deep emerald, over white marble and gray terrazzo. Glass carries most of the scenes: frosted slabs, fluted panels, clear spheres and ribbons of thin glass rods.
- The icon is a soft, rounded cube with the J cut into its face. It rests on a stacked glass pedestal, turns to show another face, and sits at the junction of two glowing tracks laid out like a circuit.
- When the icon lands on a glass pad, rings ripple out across the set. Later scenes move to gradient cylinders behind fluted glass and a frosted, stacked module on terrazzo steps, wrapped in soft green haze.
- Everything was modeled, lit and rendered in Blender with Cycles. Soft daylight and leaf shadows fall across the floors to keep the sets from feeling sterile.
